I feel silly for asking this question but what is an upper body step up?

Doug, Use a bumper plate, 6in plyo box, or another sturdy surface about the same height. Stay in a push up position and simply walk your hands from the floor to the to of the surface and back down.

Brooks and Sam, were you two nice to each other this morning?
