Enter The Zone - To Guinness or JD

The Zone Diet breaks down the consumption of foods into three blocks: protein, carbohydrates, and fats. Ideally a 1:1:1 ratio of the three completes a total block. Mini blocks, blocks that do not have all three types, can also be calculated.

The mini block of protein is made up of 7 grams of protein. The mini block of carbohydrates is made up of 9 grams of carbohydrates. Lastly, the mini block of fat is made up of 3 grams of fat. Choosing your foods wisely allows you the benefit of consuming a large quantity of good for you foods versus small quantities of not so good for you foods.

The recent question of is it better to drink a pint of Guinness, a shot of Jack Daniels, or consume an Irish Car Bomb is finally being answered in regard to the Zone. First, and foremost, I must say we are not and do not suggest that any of the above mentioned beverages be consumed as a recovery drink, or on a regular basis.

As it turns out...

1 pint of Guinness is 2 blocks of carbohydrates

1 oz of JD is 0 blocks, however contains 70 calories

1 Irish Car Bomb, consisting of Guinness, Bailey's Irish Cream, and Jameson is 2.5 blocks of carbohydrates and 2 blocks of fat

Let this be a lesson learned to both the Irish and everyone else.

Some things are better left unknown.

I guess you could always not include beverages in your calculations.

The 12 Days after the Saturday workout or instead of the Saturday workout? Greg, can you make it down on Saturday? I hear some post workout banana pancakes yelling screaming some names!

Jason did the 12 Days WOD. I did the WODs for this week.

I was thinking "instead" of the Sat. scheduled workout.. I'll have my camera, maybe I'll take pics of the class, then take your pics, then do the 12 days? Up to you! I am more than happy just doing the WOD...

I do want to see where I come in on the 12 days w/o so if not Saturday then perhaps I can convince the 6 a.m. crew to give it a shot on Monday Morning (X-Mas Eve - seems appropriate! Sam, Dam, Rob, Jeff - what you guys say?)

Looks like I'm in on the 12 Days two more times!

Make sure you guys get this one in at least once before Jan, we'll have a new WOD for Jan once the new year rolls around.

All of a sudden everyone wants to sing the 12 Days...

You're always sleeping on Monday mornings.

Let's make the WOD for Sat. the 12 days. If you already did the 12 days, that person can do something else..??

I am sleeping on Mondays?? Listen to the hog calling the pig!

unfortunately, i won't be able to make it this weekend for the 12 Days Extravaganza. Best of luck to everyone to post some wicked times.

Are banana pancakes more acceptable as a post workout meal than a car bomb?

Whoa!! Now I'm a hog! I'm pretty sure I've been at the last 3 Monday 6ams and I don't recall seeing Sammy.

If you want to do the 12 Days this Saturday it will have to be at 9am after the 8am workout. All movements as prescribed. Anyone over 5'10" needs to use the tall box for box jumps.

Sorry you can't make it Greg. Banana pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes, blueberry pancakes, are all very acceptable post workout meals.

Count me in on the 12 Days...I like to have the s!$% kicked outta me over the holidays! Although no cameras allowed if I'm attempting my first turkish get up...I don't want any photographic evidence of me getting that intimate with a kettlebell...Who's bringing the soup tomorrow? I don't think I can pack a stack of pancakes in my messenger bag...

Apparently I'm an idiot!

Greg put together the 12 Days WOD. Which is why the original post says "Greg's 12 Days..." Jason made the post.
